Shaelin Boone was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship from the National Technical Honor Society. Shaelin is a junior with a CTE concentration in Health Sciences. She has weighted GPA of 4.175 and is currently taking four college transfer courses with the College of the Albemarle- Career and College Promise program. Shaelin was selected as one of 250 outstanding NTHS members from across the country to receive the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship based on their ability to consistently exemplify the 7 attributes of NTHS – Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership. This is the first time a Dare County Schools student has received the award.
 
“I couldn’t think of a better person to receive this recognition. She (Shaelin) is thoughtful, considerate, respectable and is a valued member of our NTHS Chapter,” said Dr. Duke Wallin, FFHS CTE Coordinator and NTHS Chapter Co-Advisor.
 
Since 1984, NTHS has been the honor society for Career and Technical Education (CTE), serving high schools, career centers, community & technical colleges, and universities. Recognizing over 65,000 new members annually, NTHS exists to advocate for and empower all students to pursue the technical and academic skills needed to build their careers and a skilled global workforce. 
 
In partnership with student leadership organizations and industry partners, NTHS has awarded over $3.3 million in scholarships to remarkable CTE students.
