From the Birthplace of Flight to the Future of Aviation

During the Wright Brothers 122nd Anniversary of Flight Celebration, First Flight High School aviation students revealed the school’s first student-built airplane—the second plane built on this legendary site since the Wright Brothers. A powerful moment of history, learning, and innovation. Watch our latest video in partnership with CURRENTtv to relive this celebratory event.

The unveiling marked more than just the completion of an aircraft. It represented hands-on learning, real-world application, and the power of career and technical education to inspire the next generation of innovators. Through the aviation program, students gain practical experience in aircraft construction, engineering principles, teamwork, and problem-solving—skills that prepare them for careers in aviation and beyond.

This moment serves as a powerful reminder that the legacy of flight is still being written, and it’s happening right here in Dare County Schools.
