Nighthawk News

The award-winning Nighthawk News Magazine and its sister publication, NighthawkNews.com, are produced by students enrolled in FFHS journalism classes. These students strive to provide informative and accurate coverage of individuals and events within the school and the Dare County community. The publication is funded through advertising sales.

Our students annually attend journalism conventions at the state, regional and national level, and for the past two years the North Carolina High School Journalist of the Year has been an editor of the Nighthawk News staff: Mary Pat Thompson in 2017 and Arabella Saunders in 2018. The newspaper is advised by Steve Hanf.
